Valentine’s Day is fast approaching and I’m sure many of us are starting to make plans. To eat in, to go out, what to make for dessert…and that’s before we even consider any gifts! So, as if you needed something else to think about, I’ve come up with an idea for a Valentine’s Day breakfast that even your littlest Valentine’s will love!
If your kids are anything like mine, a big hearty breakfast is NOT in the cards. Sadly, they’ve inherited their mom’s dislike for eating something big and heavy immediately after waking up. (If schools would offer a big breakfast at about 10:00, they’d be ALL over it!) So, I came up with something that will give them some energy to start their day, but that they’ll still eat.
I made my absolute favorite smoothie, Strawberry Banana. By serving it in a Mason jar with a cute party circle and striped paper straw from The TomKat Studio, (get yours here) it’s already a little bit fancier than our everyday smoothie. But then, I took it even further…
I added a bit of whipped cream to the top AND a few M&M’s. It’s Valentine’s Day, after all…we’ve got to have some chocolate! It’s just a tiny amount of candy, but my kids would be so excited (and probably a bit puzzled!) to see that in their breakfast. If you’re not into this idea but you like the look, you could always add a bit of vanilla Greek yogurt to the top,and maybe a few sprinkles.
Add a few slices of heart shaped toast, and you’ve got created a simple, healthy breakfast that will be sure to bring a smile to the faces of your little Valentines!
