Fall Apple Cake, An Update

Happy Friday, everyone! Hopefully, you all read this post yesterday about the simple and healthy apple cake I made.  (If not, you’ll definitely want to go check it out!)

After I posted this recipe, I went back into the kitchen to work on another baking project, and came up with a tasty topping to go on top of the apple cake!

This topping is nothing more than butter, brown sugar, some milk, a bit of cinnamon, and some kosher salt…because I like a little salt in almost everything! As I watched it all cook together and get nice and tasty, I immediately thought that I should try pouring it over the top of my freshly baked apple cake.

That would have been a bad idea.

Basically, because the mixture was boiling at the time, and nothing makes your mouth more unhappy than a big bite of boiling butter and sugar…ouch!!

So, I put the  mixture aside and allowed it to cool until it was still warm, but not hot.  Then, I poured it over the top of my apple cake.  Then, I tried it…and then, I was even happier than I had been before.

I love it when ideas pop into my head when I’m not even looking for them.
