Yesterday, I shared the details of my son’s Mario inspired birthday party that was held last weekend, and today, I’m sharing the simplest DIY project ever…and it’s a serious money saver!
When I was out shopping at my local super center (hint, hint) recently, I came across an end cap display in the housewares section that was loaded with plastic (and BPA free!) plates and cups. They were available in a variety of colors and styles, and most were being sold for 4 pieces for $1.00. I chose 2 packages of plates and two packages of cups and threw them in my cart, knowing exactly what I was going to do with them.
I was going to make cake stands.
All I needed is a plate, a cup, and my trusty E6000 glue.
Add some glue to the bottom of your cup and stick in on to the bottom of your plate. You’ll want to do it this way so that the cake stand isn’t too top heavy…better to have the larger side of the cup as your main support.
That’s it!
I promise, it works really well! I used mine to hold pizza, breadsticks, cupcakes, cookies…they all worked out just fine. I’ve washed them and stored them and plan on using them again next month for my daughter’s birthday party. After that, if I decide I don’t want them anymore, I can get rid of them without feeling bad, since they only cost me $.50 each!
