One of the greatest movies of forever and all time is turning 75 next year. Seriously, how many movies can you think of that absolutely EVERYONE has seen? If you had to think of one off the top of your head, I bet you’d include The Wizard of Oz. Easily. When I was contacted about working with Darice Crafts to help them promote their new line of Wizard of Oz Crafts that celebrate the 75th anniversary of the ground breaking film, I absolutely knew that I had to say yes. Partly because I love the movie, but mostly because I know the sweetest little girl who is beyond smitten with this movie, a trait she inherited from her amazing mom.
So, I knew some crafts were on their way to my house, but I never…not no way not no how, (see what I did there…) would have ever imagined just how much amazingness would make its way to my front door.
And the best part? This isn’t even all of it. If you want to see everything that I received, check out this post that does a great job breaking down all of the crafts. These crafts will be available for purchase at stores like Jo-Ann’s Fabric, Michaels, AC Moore, and other small retailers across the country.
Now that the weather is turning cooler, parents will be looking for indoor activities that will keep their little ones happy and entertained. Can you imagine an afternoon of Wizard of Oz? Movie watching, craft making…it sounds perfect for kids and grown ups alike! (If you do this and decide to invite me, I call the Toto craft, because it’s absolutely adorable.)
To go along with your movie making/crafting afternoon, I came up with the perfect snack to serve to your busy little crafters. It doesn’t even really need a recipe, it’s so simple. What I like about this idea is that while it’s definitely a sweet treat, it’s not like you’re loading them up with lots of cookies and cake. I mean, it’s Jello…how much of a sugar rush can that cause???
Simple doesn’t even begin to describe this. It’s Jello in little jars that I allowed to set up. Just before serving (and seriously, do it just before serving or you’ll lose the look altogether) sprinkle on red cupcake sprinkles. The effect is just like Dorothy’s ruby slippers…it’s magical!
Makes you want to click your heels together, doesn’t it?
Go ahead, I won’t tell anyone.
