Say Cheese! App from Chuck E. Cheese

Recently, I was approached about doing a post about the new Say Cheese! app from Chuck E. Cheese.  Whenever I’m given great opportunities like this, my first thought is always, “Is this a good fit for my site?”.  If the answer is yes, I’m happy to accept and share the information with my readers.  However, when I was approached with this offer, my first thought was, “Would I still be allowed to live in my home if I say no??”.  And, the answer, is most probably not.  Like most children, my kids LOVE visiting Chuck E. Cheese.  So, we loaded the Say Cheese! app onto my iPhone and headed to Chuck E. Cheese to see what it was all about.

(Note: All photos from our visit that day were taken with my iPhone 5.)

Since it was a Saturday, the place was pretty crazy, so we were lucky to find that our favorite table by the window was open…and even better yet, it had one of the many “Say Cheese Here” signs that you can find spread out throughout Chuck E. Cheese.

And here’s how our first picture went…….

Ummmm, cute picture of my kids, but where’s Chuck E.???

I fiddled with it for a few minutes, and let them go play because keeping them seated at the table when they have cups full of tokens is pretty cruel, right? So, they took off, and I continued to try and figure out how to get the app to work.

After playing around with it a bit, this appeared on my screen…

This app uses augmented reality, so it’s actually very cool the way he just sort of pops onto your screen.  I may have even jumped a little when he appeared.  But, I most certainly did NOT scream out “Whoa!” in the middle of a crowded Chuck E. Cheese…………….

He moves around a bit on your screen, but you can push the “pause” button to lock him into a pose that you like.

So, with the app figured out, it was time to go follow the kids around while they used their tokens.

Because no one in our family will ever, EVER pass up a Plinko game… (#GreatestThePriceIsRightGameEVER)

Mark my words, if he doesn’t end up as a sportscaster when he grows up, he will most certainly be a game show host.

Time to eat what my son calls the greatest pizza on earth.

The majority of my daughter’s tokens went into this game where you choose which color the ball will land on.  Note to Self: Never allow her to visit Vegas.

Apparently, Chuck E. and I have similar taste in fashion.  I recently bought this sweater.

For my kids, a visit to this area is a slooooooooow process.  Spending each and every ticket in just the right way takes a whole lot of planning, and a whole lot of standing around from mom and dad!

On our way out, the kids both posed by the Say Cheese! Here sign by the front door.

It’s definitely a cute little app and it’s fun to move all around the store looking for the signs and see which version of Chuck E. Cheese will appear.  Better yet, the app is FREE, so it’s a definite win.

You can download the Chuck E. Cheese Say Cheese! app here…then visit your local Chuck E. Cheese and get snapping!

IT’S BACK TO SCHOOL TIME!

As much as I hate to admit it, it’s back to school time. I love having my kids home during the summer, and always feel a bit (or a lot!) sad when they head back.  One thing I do like about back to school time, however, is back to school shopping! While I usually do most of our shopping online, this year we went out to do our shopping.  It was definitely eye opening to see what was popular for kids this year!

My son is simple…sports shirt, track pants, tennies, and he’s done.  He’s not interested in anything with buttons or collars or zippers.  If he can’t pull it on and take off, he’s not interested!

When shopping for him, I buy lots and lots of t-shirts.  T-shirts are great for the warmer months, and when the weather turns cooler, throw on a long sleeve t, add one of his stylish short sleeve t-shirts, and he’s off! (Basically, getting ready for my son should take no longer than 4.93 seconds!) Buying things this way is such an economical choice for us, because t-shirts, whether long or short sleeved, are always budget friendly!

My daughter, however is completely different.  As someone who’s going into middle school, I’ve watched her style begin to slowly change from t-shirts and yoga pants to things that are much more stylish.  She used to be all about the comfort, but now, she’s becoming more interested in things that look like her favorite characters on TV.

I’ve noticed this year bright colors and particularly, NEON are extremely popular.  The brighter, the better! My daughter is drawn to these things like a moth to a flame.  I can’t tell you how bright her closet is right now…and she couldn’t be happier! She also loves shoes similar to the ones above.  She loves collecting them in various colors.  They’re great because they’re comfortable, and a bit more stylish than typical tennies.

I’ve also noticed that anything 80s is back again with a bang! My daughter has several crop tops, and even some that are off the shoulder! (Of course, she’s wearing tanks underneath…she’s only 11!) It was so odd to be strolling around looking at stores that were similarly stocked as they were when I was a kid! It definitely made it easier to help her select clothes, though…just choose something I would have worn when I was her age, and it was a sure winner!

Have you started back to school shopping? What do you do to make shopping more economical?

The Earth is a Wonderful Home

When I find things like this in my son’s backpack…

{the earth is a wonderful home.}

…it makes me very, very happy.  There’s nothing like the mind of a seven year old.

It also makes me really, REALLY want this…
