August is here and we all know what that means…summer is officially over. At least, in my mind it is. I feel like I’ve said it a thousand times, and have heard it from a thousand different people as well, but summer has seriously flown by this year! I’m not ready to send my kids back to school. This house is going to get awfully quiet, awfully quickly. But, like I do every year, I’ll adjust, and it will just be me and this one home during the day.
She looks thrilled, doesn’t she?
So, since August is here, we’re in full on school preparation mode. That includes making sure that my daughter has everything she needs to decorate her school locker. That is the most important of middle school, isn’t it?
Yesterday, we whipped up these simple and adorable magnetic washi tape clothespins, perfect for school lockers or for their study spaces at home. For just a couple of dollars, you can make way more of these than you’ll ever need, and with so many options of washi tape, you can customize them in a thousand different ways.
I chose to go with sparkly, green washi tape for this project. Be wary when choosing patterned washi tapes, since the mini clothespins are so small, you may wind up cutting off half of your pattern in order to make it fit on the front of the clothespin.
I had spray painted these gold for a party that we had earlier in the summer, so they were all ready to go. The gold looks amazing, but if you’re going for a more casual look you could do white or any color you want!
Simply cut the magnetic tape to fit on one side of the clothespin and secure it. Then, add washi tape to the other side. Trim off any pieces that extend beyond the surface.
And you’re ready to go!
So simple and adorable!
This is a simple project for teachers to create for their classrooms as well!
Cute projects like this make the thought of sending my kids back to school just a little bit easier……
…….a tiny bit!
