I’ve decided, after living in my house for nearly 9 years, that I would FINALLY turn my laundry room/pantry into exactly what it was meant to be…a laundry room/pantry! When building our home, this was always my intention, however, it’s never made it past the laundry room/small appliance storage/water cooler/junk room.
My intent was to take it slowly, this was going to be a BIG project. So, yesterday, I decided to clean out the food stored in my lazy susan in my kitchen, and move it to the pantry. I would then take small appliances that I use often, and store them in the lazy susan.
Yeah, that didn’t happen.
I got in WAY over my head, and I realized that you can learn a lot about yourself when you start snooping through your pantry items.
Off to a good start…just a few things, moving from one place to another…this shouldn’t take more than 15 minutes. (Foolish, girl.)
OK, stuff is out of the lazy susan and on the pantry shelves. We’ll deal with organizing later, but for now, get it OFF my kitchen counter! (See that Great Value Mac & Cheese in the background? I keep it to make me smile. My son picked it out at the store one day, and NO ONE is willing to eat it, but I’m not exactly sure why.)
The next time I go to make lasagna, I hope and pray that my family stops me before I put lasagna noodles on my shopping list. Stop me, please. Shout at me if you must, “Carrie, STOP! In the name of all that is good and pure, do NOT buy more lasagna noodles! We have plenty!” (I’m not going to add that I actually found two more boxes after taking this picture. Corner cabinets are full of hiding places if you’re a box of lasagna noodles.)
I don’t know if I’ve told you this before or not, but I absolutely love these things. I buy them when I have absolutely no need to buy them. I love having them on hand. If I ever end up on an episode of Hoarders, I’ll be surrounded by piles and piles of empty stay fresh cans of French’s Fried Onions. Let’s hope it doesn’t come to that, though.
Who has two completely full boxes of Sleepytime Tea in her pantry? Someone who bought one box, forgot where she stored it, then bought another box, only to find the first box moments after arriving home with the second box. (If you followed that sentence, you obviously haven’t recently consumed any of said Sleepytime Tea.)
And my Keurig obsession continues…it’s like magic, I tell you! My drink is ready almost instantly!
I refuse to throw out the Harvest Cheddar Sun Chips that come in the big variety pack of baked chips. I feel bad for them. They’re always the last little soldiers left in the bag after all the other chips have gone off, never to return. I keep hoping that someday someone will request Harvest Cheddar Sun Chips in their lunch box…but based on past experiences, it isn’t looking good.
So, my pantry makeover is officially underway. It only took nine years to get to this point, I wonder how long it will be before it’s finished??
