Food: I Scream, You Scream for Ice Cream

Do you need a cup or two…or three…of coffee to get you going in the morning?

It seems a strange question for me to be asking when the title of my post obviously refers to ice cream…just stick with me, for a moment, though.

I’m definitely a coffee fan, but I especially love it when it’s loaded with lots of cream and sugar. When I was contacted by International Delights to help them promote their fun, new website, www.whatsyourid.com, they asked me to select my favorite of all of the delicious International Delight creamer flavors. This wasn’t a tricky choice for me, I immediately went with the Cold Stone Creamery Sweet Cream creamer. Tell me that something will taste just like homemade ice cream in my coffee and you’ll have my attention.

So, being inspired by the flavor of homemade ice cream, I created a Pinterest board loaded with ice cream sweet treats (even some coffee flavored ones!) that you’ll want to try as the weather heats up! Ice cream is always a simple dessert to serve when entertaining, and with just a little added effort you can easily make an ice cream dessert that will impress any guests that you have over.

{BLOGGING} How I Use Social Media

Are you getting tired of my blogging posts yet? I certainly hope not…if you want to check out my previous posts, you can find them here, here, and here.  Today, I want to chat a little bit about social media.  We all have accounts all over the place from Facebook and Twitter to Pinterest and beyond.  Do you have a plan for how you use these different platforms, or is it a bit of a free for all?? Having a plan on how you use your different social media accounts can help you stay organized and will also encourage people to follow you over all of them, versus just one or two.  If all I’m doing on Twitter is reiterating what I’ve already said on Facebook, why would someone want to follow me both places? So, I’m sharing my tips for how I use social media, and hopefully it will help you out as well!

(Since the title of this post sounded a bit like a school paper, I decided to take the theme and run with it…because I’m a complete goof.)

Pinterest: I suggest you take a long hard look at your traffic numbers and see where all of your traffic is coming from.  For me, Pinterest is easily the biggest referrer of people to my site, so I want to build on my “relationship” that I have with Pinterest.  First of all, I want to make sure that all of my boards are neat and orderly, and the most current boards are up at the top. This means, my Christmas boards shouldn’t be the first thing that people see when they visit my profile page…at least not at this time of year.  You want to make sure that your boards reflect you and your site.  While, I do have a few personal boards, the majority are related to my site.  Don’t underestimate the personal boards, though…it’s good for people to see more about “you”.

Facebook: Facebook had become such a thorn in my side that I had to re-evaluate the way I was using it.  No one was seeing my posts, my interaction was very low, so I decided to just let it go and use it more as a place to chat with my followers.  I post random topics (almost all pertaining to my site) and get feedback from my readers.  If I want people to visit my site, I can’t expect to throw up a link once a day to my latest blog post and have them rushing to their mouses (mouses…mice…touch pad, maybe??) to see what the Great and Powerful Carrie has to say.  There are 19,548 other “Carries” out there, building a relationship is key.

Twitter: To me, where Facebook is the more stuffy, formal party, Twitter is definitely the more laid back, casual after-party.  You can be yourself and have fun.  I don’t use it nearly as much as I should, but I notice that when I do use it, my feedback can be really good.  It’s a fun place to hang out, for sure.

Instagram: Probably my favorite of all the more recent social media platforms, I LOVE Instagram.  Since I’m a more visual person, seeing image after image really connects with me.  I love seeing the amazing images people are able to create using only their iPhones.  Sometimes you’re moved by the gorgeousness of the work, and you’ll scroll down a bit to see a hilarious picture of someone’s kid.  I definitely adore it.  But, to me, it’s a fun and casual place, too.  I’m not a fan when the majority of people’s feeds are filled with pictures taken by their DSLR’s that are there to promote their newest post.  People like images of everyday life…grainy and pixely as they may be!

Social media can take up a ton of a blogger’s time, but when used properly, it can provide serious boosts to helping you grow your site! Good luck!

PINTEREST BOARDS FOR FALL

Are you following along with all of our fun on Pinterest yet? If you’re not, I’d love for you to join us! I’ve just rearranged all my boards to make them nice and orderly, and to make it super easy for all of you to access my fall-themed boards!

In case you haven’t been over yet, let me share with you a little peek into some of my most favorite boards!

This is my catch all board where I pin all of my favorite sweet treats for the fall season.  You’ll find a wide variety of fall themed desserts on this board.

From drinks to warm your insides on a chilly night to treats that are for adults only, this board is loaded with ideas of drinks you can make during the fall and holiday season.

As much as I love pumpkin pie, sometimes it’s fun to look beyond that and see what other tasty treats we can come up with using pumpkin.  If you’re like me, this is a board you’ll want to check out!

My site’s not just about the food…I like to talk about decor, as well and aside from Christmas, there’s no time I enjoy decorating my home more than during the fall.  This board is full of simple DIY ideas that will help you spruce up your home and prepare for the season to come.

This is honestly one of my favorite Pinterest boards of them all.  Seriously, I pin to it year round.  Halloween is one of my favorite holidays and I LOVE all the ideas I’ve been able to discover.  Now if I only had the time to do all of these projects…

Don’t we all dream of having that perfectly set, perfectly decorated Thanksgiving table? I know I do, and this is one place you can come to find inspiration for simple ways you can dress up your Thanksgiving table this year.

Cheesecakes, tarts, and trifles, oh my! I’m still working on beefing up this board a bit, but I have big plans to make it a place you can come to check out alternatives to the traditional pumpkin and pecan pies.  (Although those are two of my faves so they will forever be on my Thanksgiving table! I just may throw a few other alternatives in, too!)

While not technically a holiday, I believe my husband would beg to differ with anyone who says football isn’t an integral part of the fall.  So, if you’re looking for recipe ideas for tailgating, or just enjoying the game with your family, I’ve got you covered with this board.

So, if you’re not already following on Pinterest, I hope you’ll stop by and start soon!

Happy pinning, everyone and have a great weekend!

Fall, My Favorite Time of the Year

Fall is such a wonderful time of year.  The changing leaves, the break from the scorching temperatures of summer, it really can’t be beat.  I recently came across this beautiful image on Pinterest and it made me so excited for what will be coming for us in just a few short weeks! Doesn’t it feel like something straight out of a movie or a novel??
